Our very first cruise was one to the Baltic capitals and we wanted to re-visit some of the places we'd been before as well as try some new ones. We chose Saga Spirit of Adventure, departing from Dover.
Our first experience of Sweden, many years ago, was a rainy boat trip around Stockholm. This time we docked in Gothenburg and had a trip around the canalways in a Paddan. An open topped boat with no protection against the rain, thankfully it kept dry. We then went for a guided walk around the Haga district in Gothenburg and had a drink in a small bar/cafe.
Copenhagen was much as we remembered it - we walked a long way from the cruise terminal into the city to the Nyhavn district then up to King's Park and finally down to the little mermaid. Hundreds of people around, as you'd expect and getting a photo was an issue. No sooner had you found 5 seconds of empty space - it was taken up by someone standing in front of you. Anyway, a good visit.
A first for us was Klaipeda in Lithuania. A small town with a market square, at the entrance of a river. A small naval ship and a masted sailing ship on the river and a sculpture garden were the highlights here.
Here's a few images from part 1.
